Our First Cruise with 4 People Aboard |
As the weather was still reasonable despite being early November we decided to try the boat out with all 4 people aboard. Me, Gwyn, Jenny and her friend Sophie. This was the first time we had all spent more than a day on the boat and did highlight practical issues that did not come to light with just Gwyn and I aboard. The first thing that came to light was the fact that the free standing table and chairs in the lounge/dining area was impractical with 4 people aboard. The table has to be moved to allow the double bed to made up. When we were on our own we just moved it to the front of the boat out of the way. This was not possible with the kids with us as they were sleeping in the 2 forward bunks. This meant the table had to put in the galley area. This was OK for sleeping but in the morning It was difficult to get to the cooker etc. to make tea. There is also a 3 drawer unit that has to be moved to make room for the bed. This is solid wood and really heavy to move. Something will have to be done. I have decided to remove the drawer unit and replace it with a smaller one that will allow the bed to be put up. The table and chairs I will take home and replace with a folding table that will go underneath the bed when it is in use. The other advantage of this is that if a table is not required the bottom part of the bed can be left down making another seat.

The arrows indicate the board that drops down to form the bottom of the bed and the drawer unit, as can be seen the table is well in the way. However, despite these little niggles the 3 days went fine and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
