Dealing with the"table" problem |
|
In view of the problem we encountered with the table I have since replaced it with a folding table. This one will fold flat and when the bed is down it is actually underneath the bed. It is a rough softwood table made by Ikea. I stained and varnished it in an attempt to match the rest of the woodwork. I also replaced the chairs with folding ones which take up little space.

Because the board the table is mounted on also folds down and is only secured in the upright position by 2 cabin latches I have used a removeable leg to support the table. This takes all the weight down to the floor and the board is in no danger of being pulled off the side. |

I have also replaced the drawers with a smaller set that do not have to be moved to allow the bed to come down. Unfortunately I could not find drawers of the right size with a finish that matches the other woodwork. (If only I was any good at woodwork I could have made some.) |

When the table is folded down there is much more room. |

With the board and table down and the addition of a couple of large cushions, instant settee! As well as the table now being underneath so are the 2 folding chairs. This makes the space much more versatile. 4 people can now be seated in comfort when the table is not needed. |

A couple of throwover covers makes the front cabin look a little warmer and protects the grey original cushions underneath. |
