Holiday 2003 |
After our holiday last year on the Leeds and Liverpool canal we decided to go there again this year and make Skipton this time. As things turned out we actually made Foulridge Tunnel. We set of on Saturday 26 July. Our first stop was on the New Junction canal early afternoon for coffee. However, we were hassled by a family of swans the male of which was quite aggressive. This made Gwyn's mum quite nervous and we moved off. I had a real laugh as 5 humans were driven off by a swan!

They look quite peaceful don't they, but they were aggressive.

One of the large locks on the Aire & Calder. All the locks and bridges are electrically operated up to Leeds. At Leeds River lock you need the "handcuff" anti vandal key and the locks become manually operated. I did not take photos in Leeds as there are some from last years Holiday already on the site. |
