Maintenance 2004

Because of the problem with the overheating warning constantly going off. I ordered a new sender unit direct from Beta Marine, it arrived in 6 days and was £38. They were very helpful and although I did not have the engine number the part was identified from my description (there are several different types).

The new unit is set to switch at 96oC. I'm sure the engine coolant was not at this temperature when the old one went off. When I removed the old sender it was marked 980C. There was no sealing ring or anything supplied so I used PTFE tape with some sealant when I fitted it.

The boat was pulled out first week in September for blacking, checking the anodes and stern gear. I went to see if the plank that got caught in the prop whilst on holiday had caused any damage but there was not a mark on it.

The engine was also serviced, so that's it for another year. Luckily maintenance this year was uneventful.
